I just got home from my first Windy City Knitting Guild meeting and it was so much fun! I was really nervous all day because I have never seeked out other knitters before, but when I walked into the auditorium and saw like 40 knitters all knitting together and learning how to do Yoga for Knitters, I could not sit down and whip out my knitting project fast enough! I met so many wonderful and TALENTED knitters and I was so inspired by them.
One of the cool things about the Knitting Guild is the newsletter, which has cool tips and tricks. I am going to share one I picked up from a fellow guild member today with you now:
When you want to wind your yarn and be able to pull from the center (so your yarn ball does not roll around the living room while you knit), use a pill bottle (like Tylenol). Put the end under the cap and wind your ball around the pill bottle. It looks like this:

And when you're done, pull out the bottle and it looks like this:

A perfectly wound center-pull ball of yarn. Ha! Thanks WCKG; you just rescued many balls of yarn from the Local Predators with that little tip.

As I glanced up from my computer just now, I realized that Richard has turned our living room into a bike repair station.

He promises not to get grease on the carpet.
In other news, I received a phone call from my sister today exclaiming that she loves the hat that I knit her. We'll see if she actually wears it, but still, it felt good to hear her approval.
I was truly in knit heaven today and I am happy to report that Mike's hat is already half way done!

Thanks for stopping by and commenting on my blog, and entering the yarn giveaway contest! Cute pics of the "predators" too - and I didn't know that trick for a center pull ball. I'm a member of the WCKG but have only attended weekend workshops, no regular meetings.
